Considering a Tattoo

February 20, 2017 // Posted in Life, Shopping (Tags: , , ) |  Comments Off on Considering a Tattoo

Tattoo’s are no longer for the bad boys and girls any longer. It seems like just about everyone has at least one if not more. So far I haven’t jumped on that bandwagon but I really like some of the work I have been seeing and the timing seems right. Not to mention, I have the extra cash to be able to splurge on something like this as tattoo’s are expensive.

I have asked several friends what shops they recommend and everyone seems to have their own favorites with one exception. Just one shop was mentioned multiple times and the same artist each time. After looking over their tattoo’s, I have decided to go to the shop itself and check it out.

Walking in the shop was a revelation. There was amazing artwork all over the walls and tons of photo albums to look at. I was greeted warmly and told the girl at the desk that I needed help figuring out exactly what I wanted and where to put it.

I knew that I wanted some flowers and vines, with maybe a couple of small birds. We were able with the help of the artist to come up with a design that I really love and will look great. It will go on my side and will look amazing with my bikini during the summer months.

I made my appointment and will be getting the work done next weekend. I can’t wait !

Coffee or Hot Tea or Maybe Some Hot Chocolate

This cold weather has me craving a warm mug with some type of comforting beverage in it. I want a nice mug of coffee with some flavored creamer, or maybe a nice cup of hot tea – green tea with Mandarin orange bits – or maybe some hot chocolate with real milk and real chocolate melted in it and some marshmallows floating on the top until they melt.

The only other hot beverage that I can think of for a cold winter night might be some hot mulled cider. I found a recipe online that calls for cider and orange juice and some spices that you put into a gauze pocket and let it steep in a crock pot for a couple of hours on low. It sounds delicious but I don’t have any cider, so that will have to come later after I get to the store.

Ordering Online is a Bitch

So I wanted to order some flowers to send to my brother’s house. He was throwing a huge party for my mom’s birthday and since I couldn’t make it up there for the party I wanted to send her some flowers. I figured I would call an FTD florist or maybe a Teleflora shop or 1-800-FLOWERS and see if I could get a nice arrangement for about $50-$60.

I went online and checked the different sites and what their arrangements looked like and decided to get an FTD floral centerpiece with a hurricane lamp. I know I can get those glass hurricane lamps here at the Pottery barn for like $4, but the arrangements that had the hurricane glas started at $100.

That’s a pretty big difference between what they are charging and what I wanted to spend, so I decided to check online for any discount coupon codes or special deals and I did find a good one for 20% off site wide. I clicked on that puppy and sure enough they marked the price of the arrangement I wanted down to $80. But then when they added the delivery charge and service fee and tax to the order, it went right back up to $100. It was like they were determined to get $100 out of my ass one way or the other.

Using the online shopping cart was a bit of a pain in the ass but I got through it. I spent more money that I wanted and I can’t help but think that if I had been able to talk to the florist at the shop in person instead of ordering it online from their limited selection that I could have saved some money and stayed closer to my budget.

But, all in all, its for my mom and I really wish I could have been there at her party to wish her a happy birthday in person and give her a big hug. But I hope she and the other party guests enjoyed the flowers that I sent.

Sweet Potato Fries are Really Good

Hamburgers are just not on my dinner menu very much any more. For one thing, the good ones are costing $5 each. And then if you add fried and a drink and tax you are looking at $10 for lunch or dinner. That’s crazy expensive and the cheap hamburgers – like the dollar menu – are so nasty that I wouldn’t want to eat them unless I was starving and had no choice.

So, I got a craving for a hamburger and it had to be a good one. I drove over to the Backyard Burgers drive through and got a hamburger with cheddar cheese and bacon – OMFG it was good! And they have a special feature on the menu – sweet potato fries. So I decided to try them. WOWZA! They knocked my socks off! OMG – I can’t wait to go back and get some more sweet potato fies – even if I don’t get another burger – I’d get those sweet potato fries on their own as a great snack!

Get Out the Blankets

September 24, 2012 // Posted in Home, Life, Shopping (Tags: , ) |  Comments Off on Get Out the Blankets

Here it is only the end of September and it is already cold as hell. I didn’t want to turn on the heat, but I definitely had to get out the blankets last night. I wish my fucking fireplace was working right. I tried to light a fire last winter and the damper wouldn’t open right – the whole fucking house filled up with smoke.

I called a chimney sweep to come fix the damper and he said it would cost too much for my budget at the time. I guess with the weather turning chilly I had better call that guy back and have him come fix it. I don’t see any point of having a fireplace unless I can have a nice little fire a couple of night each week to relax in front of the TV and toast my toes near the flames of a good wood fire.
