WalMart Crazies

December 10, 2011 // Posted in Life, Shopping (Tags: , , , ) |  Comments Off

Last night I was in search of some special chemicals to treat the water for my fish. It seems they have “Ick.” My boyfriend said that I have to buy a bottle of this stuff called “Soppersafe.” I don’t know why they call it that. I wish I had paid more attention in chemistry class in school.

So I found the Coppersafe at the pet store next to WalMart, and I thought, since I’m all the way over here I might as well go to WalMart and pick up a few things so I don’t have make another trip over this way.

Big mistake. That place was jam packed with weird and crazy people. The aisles were crowded, people were bumping into me – I HATE that! – and I couldn’t find the right size or the right color or the right flavor of whatever I was looking for. The lines to check out were huge. I said “Fuck it!”  and left my basket in the line and walked out of the store. I don’t need all that cheap crap bad enough to stand in line for 40 minutes to pay them for it.

New Coat

Its turned cold and I dug out my ski parka from the back of the closet and took one look at that dingy old thing and threw it out. I have had that coat since I went skiing in Park City, Utah, about 9 years ago. That is crazy too long for a coat, even though it was expensive and it kept me toasty warm on top of those bitter cold mountains out west.

It’s in the trash and I’m on my way to the mall to buy a new one. Let’s see what I can find this time.

On the Road for a Free Dinner

November 24, 2011 // Posted in Eats and Drinks, Life, Thoughts (Tags: , , ) |  Comments Off

Leaving tonight for a couple of days. It’s my annual duty appearance at my brother’s house. He always hosts the family’s Thanksgiving dinner. He is the only one in the family with a nice house big enough to accommodate everyone, and his wife is a decent cook. She tries to do all the traditional foods, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc. and won’t let anyone help her in the kitchen. So, all I have to do is drive 8 hours and sit around drinking white wine with the family the entire day at my brother’s house. If it wasn’t for the white wine I wouldn’t be able to tolerate that much time with those freaks. But, you knew that.

Its the Money

I have a huge bowl of loose change. If I had a piggy bank it would have filled u[p all but the biggest one of those by now. The bowl is a pretty handmade wooden bowl from the Philippines that was a gift. So I like to leave it out on the dresser and look at. Except now it is filled with coins. So I need to find a way to transport all these coins to the bank and cash it in.

Handicapped Parking

no parking

Do they call it handicapped parking spots anymore? The whole politically correct way of talking about people with disabilities, disorders, handicapped, challenged, etc. is getting too hard to keep up with.
